skiing with a professional backcountry ski guide. This three-day
backcountry skiing adventure begins with a ski into the beautiful
Virginia Lakes area of the Eastern Sierra Nevada to establish a comfortable
base camp.
Backcountry skiing instruction includes all ski touring techniques,
avalanche awareness and rescue basics, winter camp craft and
navigation with map, compass and GPS. And count on plenty
of turns, with a descent of nearby peaks such as Dunderberg or Olsen Peaks.
Learn the art of backcountry skiing and gain the confidence
and skills to ski out of bounds on your own.

Location: Eastern Sierra Nevada between the towns of Lee Vining and Bridgeport, just North of the ski resort town of Mammoth Lakes.
Prerequisites: Required skiing
ability is strong intermediate to advanced level on downhill or tele ski equipment at a ski resort.
Must be comfortable in ungroomed (powder and crud) conditions.
No previous backcountry experience required. Very good physical shape required.
